Virtual Board Meeting Instructions
Revised* Board Meeting Practices in Response to Public Health Orders
- While the Board of Trustees continues to hold meetings to conduct essential business during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in accordance with Governor Newsom’s Executive Order N-29-20 banning public gatherings, members of the public may not attend the Board meetings in person. Public participation in the meetings will be electronic. These meetings will be accessible to the public by internet or telephone. No physical meeting place will be provided. Meeting access instructions are provided below, on the CJUHSD website, and at the following link: cjuhsd.net.
- Public Comment: Beginning Tuesday, August 11, 2020 CJUHSD Board meetings transitioned from the Zoom meeting platform to the Zoom webinar platform. This new format will allow those attending the meeting to only see Board and Cabinet members on the screen; no information on attendees will appear on screen. The Board continues to value and encourage members of the public to provide public comments. Any individual or group may address the Board concerning any subject that lies within the Board’s jurisdictional authority. Five minutes may be allotted to each speaker, with a maximum of 20 minutes for presentation of each subject prior to general discussion. Speakers requiring translation services will be allowed 10 minutes, with a maximum of 40 minutes for presentation of each subject prior to general discussion as stated in Board Policy 1010. Emailed comments received by the recording secretary up to one hour prior to the start of the meeting will be read aloud, in the order received, by Superintendent Holton or a designee during the Public Comment portion of the meeting in accordance with the requirements of Board Policy 1010. Individual emails will be read aloud until completed or for a maximum of five minutes, whichever is shorter. A group of emailed comments on the same topic will be read aloud until completed or for a maximum of 20 minutes, whichever is shorter. Any emailed Public Comments remaining after the allotted time constraints have been reached will be provided to the Board for their review but will not be read aloud per Board Policy 1010. Please remember that comments on items not listed on the Agenda cannot be responded to during the meeting, but Board members carefully listen to those comments, and those comments often become part of the discussion of future Board meetings when they can be listed on the Agenda. If you wish to submit an emailed public comment, please email the recording secretary at email@example.com no later than one hour prior to the start of the meeting.
- Reasonable Accommodations: If you wish to request reasonable accommodations to attend the telephonic meeting, please call 909-988-8511 ext. 2501 or email Joey Collisson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
