WATER SUSTAINABILITY

The Chaffey Joint Union High School District has made tremendous progress in reducing its water usage. In 2016, the District was awarded the Drought Hero Award from the Cucamonga Valley Water District. The District also received the qualified Water Efficient Landscaper Certification with a partnership with the Chino Basin Water Conservation District. Ongoing strategies have been implemented District-Wide to reduce, reuse, and recycle water.

Valley View High School is an example of a park-like campus. Its well-defined spaces allow for tight control of irrigation systems. Reclaimed water and an upgraded sprinkler system reduce the use of potable water. Weather sensitive irrigation controls programmed with cycle and soak intervals and planters covered with mulch reduce evaporation and maintain moisture. Water bottle filling stations are installed in strategic areas for convenient use of personal containers as well as the reduction of plastics.
