WATER SUSTAINABILITY

The Chaffey Joint Union High School District has made tremendous progress in reducing its water usage. In 2016 the District was awarded the Drought Hero Award from the Cucamonga Valley Water District. The District also received the qualified Water Efficient Landscaper Certification with a partnership with the Chino Basin Water Conservation District. Ongoing strategies have been implemented Districtwide to reduce, reuse and recycle water.

Alta Loma High School has achieved a recognizable reduction in water usage through planned upgrades and additions. The use of reclaimed water for fields and landscaping along with upgraded irrigation systems including weather sensitive controllers allow for efficient water delivery. The school site conducts routine coverage checks to keep water off the hardscaping. Alta Loma High School has also focused on reducing water usage by installing synthetic turf on the varsity football field and low flow flushometers in restroom facilities.
